Promises promises…

January 3, 2011 § 2 Comments

I’ve never been one to make New Years resolutions…I know  I can’t keep up with them. I’m not entirely sure if this is because I lose interest quickly, or if it’s because life gets in the way…maybe it’s a bit of both. So instead of making resolutions, I’m making a list of all the things I would like to do instead of a list of things I have to do:

Remember my post a few weeks back??? Well…it’s related to going back to school! I’ve been doing a lot of thinking these past few months, and I think it’s the right move at this stage of my life. A few weeks ago, I interviewed for a Masters position. There are more details, but I’d prefer not to get overly excited about it (very hard to do at this stage), just in case things don’t pan out. I’ve been disappointed before, and it’s pretty hard to take. So I just need to chill out.

…and it’s totally not working…

But yes. It is a very amazing opportunity. Very very amazing. Lots of hoping and dreaming on this end…

In other news, the holidays were pretty relaxing. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with Trav’s family, and drove back into the city in the evening for my family dinner (at a Chinese restaurant, for something “different”). The rest of the week was spent with friends and family. On New Years Eve, our plans with friends fell through, so Trav and I spent the night/morning with each other…sort of. He read for most of the evening, and I played around with my new yarn swift and ball winder.

You’re probably wondering what Trav got me for Christmas. WELL…because of my heightened snooping tendencies during Christmas, I was FORBIDDEN from looking in Trav’s car trunk for about a week or so (a very long time when you’re holding back The Snoop). His hint was, “It’s something you’ve been asking for for a long time.”

SO GOOD. I was definitely not expecting this, but here it is, sitting on my kitchen counter in sparkling newness and gorgessity!

Okay, I have to admit, I thought it was an engagement ring. And yes, I was a little disappointed when I saw this huge, heavy box under the tree…but in all seriousness, when I ripped the wrapping paper off, I nearly squealed in joyous celebration…

If there was confetti around, I’m pretty sure there’d be none left after I got to it.

As Trav put it, it’s a “win-win” gift. I win, because I wanted it. He wins, because he gets to eat whatever I make with it.

Funny…he said that about last year’s gift too…

I’ll be updating regularly with photos from the holidays. It’s going to be a bit delayed, since I had to return the memory card I was using to my uncle, so all of my pictures are on my parents’ computer. Fantastic. This is why you should carry a USB stick with you EVERYWHERE.

Hope everyone had an amazing holiday, and HAPPY 2011!!!
